ELLIDA TOMA’s brand was launched in 2013 as a reconnection with feminity and sensuality by means of ready-to-wear, and incorporates bold designs and impeccable techniques to highlight a woman’s body. All the collections are created for the contemporary woman who brings balance and unity. The collections created by ELLIDA TOMA empowering women to feel free and a way for women to enjoy who they are.
The contrasting fabrics of the highest quality – silk, velvet, organza, taffeta, lace, leather, sequins, denim, they are transpose into modern, wearable outfits, suitable for any moment of the day. The texture clash – smooth and delicate vs. rough and tough – culminates with the ELLIDA TOMA signature look. Ready-to-wear pieces create total looks, and every garment is a fashion statement in itself.
ELLIDA TOMA, PhD in Visual Arts at the National University of Arts Bucharest, with an MA in Fashion and Costume Strategies from the National University of Arts Bucharest.
As fashion designer, ELLIDA TOMA’s work could be seen in many fashion shows, exhibitions, contests, costume performances. As a scenographer, Ellida Toma was involved in many artistic manifestation and performs theater and television projects, costume exhibition in the country and aboard.
Strongly influenced by the deconstructivism current, ELLIDA TOMA has a conceptual approach to fashion by combining geometric, architectural and innovative elements. The garment pieces, made by interventions at pattern level, are a combination of idea, shape, proportion, functionality and quality and deliver complex messages through multiple ways of being worn.
The collections include asymmetry theme, deconstruction with different volumes and cuts, simplified shapes. The creation of Constantin Brâncuși is the main source of inspiration for ELLIDA TOMA’s collections, where the costume follow the architectural and also body lines and volumes, so that they harmonize together. The collections includes the preference of the designer ELLIDA TOMA for neutral colors: monochrome pieces which focus on austere and mysterious black or pure white.
There was resorted to lines and volumes, redistributing the human proportions in a clear, sculptural manner. The clothing pieces, made by interventions at pattern level, compose and describe lines and geometric shapes. The collections includes unique cuts, juxtapositions and intersections that cover volumetrically the body. The pieces of the collection are on the border between architectural and destructured, a geometric exercise with folds, drapes, asymmetrical cuts and layering.
