Fashion Design Course

The Fashion Design Course is addressed to young designers, students, entrepreneurs at the beginning of the road, and fashion enthusiasts who want a career in the industry.
The purpose of the Fashion Design Course is the creation of a collection, from concept to the actual production of the garments and the presentation of these pieces within a special event organized for the launch of the fashion collections.
The Fashion Design Course taught by Ellida Toma challenges you to explore fashion as art, but also as responsibility, emphasizing innovation and sustainability. At the end, you will be able to give life to your own creations and you will look at fashion as a space for freedom and personal expression.
The profession of fashion designer is not based only on inspiration, vision, and talent, but also on knowledge. Thus, over the 20 intensive study weeks, you will absorb through theoretical lessons and practical exercises notions of visual language, drawing and color theory, you will produce artistic and technical sketches, you will experiment working with fabrics, textiles and accessories, you will practice draping techniques and working with volumes, and you will complete several garments starting from your concept.
“We will explore together the universe of fashion design through questions and open discussions. Romanian designers, well-known stylists, specialists, and fashion editors will be invited to the classes and will share from their experience in creating collections, fashion shows, career, and fashion business. We will go together through all the stages of creating a fashion concept, starting from the basic idea, to the realization of a storyboard and then a moodboard, to sketches, patterns, choosing materials, assembling the pieces and producing the final products.” (Ellida Toma)
What you will study in the Fashion Design Course:
- History of fashion, history of costume, because fashion reflects the values, mentalities, and transformations of society in a certain era and can be considered an important source of inspiration for creation.
- History of art, which offers you a visual and cultural dictionary capable of introducing you to the cultural and historical context, helping you to create, to develop critical and aesthetic sense, and to understand the connection between art and fashion.
- The importance of sustainability, slow fashion vs. fast fashion in contemporary creation.
- Fashion drawing and illustration techniques, the main tools you will use to express your creativity-filled ideas.
- Color analysis for creating visual balance, which offers the designer a subtle but extremely powerful language through which to convey emotion, identity, and story.
- Techniques for constructing garments — pattern making, because you need technical notions to transpose ideas exactly as you imagine them into garments.
- Draping technique for creative freedom, for creating volumes and unique silhouettes, the original sculpture in fabric.
- Practical notions of tailoring and finishes necessary for assembling and defining a premium garment.
- Textiles, fabrics, raw materials, auxiliary materials, accessories necessary for producing garments; their properties, use, mixing, matching, maintenance.
- The process of conceiving a fashion collection, from idea to prototype, by going through each stage of this complex process.
- The actual development of the fashion collection.
- Presentation of the collection in a fashion show with everything this implies: venue, stage technology, audience, partners, promotion, press release, feedback.
At the end of the course, you will have the ability to create your own sketches, prototypes, and garments that will make up a collection, and you will be prepared to express your creative identity and integrate into the fashion field.
The completion of the course will involve finalizing this large-scale project, namely the presentation of your fashion collection within a special event created for this launch, at which a specialized audience will be present.

The Fashion Styling Course is addressed to those who want to shape or discover their clothing style, content creators, fashion enthusiasts, and entry-level fashion stylists who want to gain the necessary confidence to manage styling projects and to create a portfolio that reflects their abilities in this field.

- Introduction to the world of styling and what it means to be a fashion stylist
- Notions of art history and fashion history, the main trends in contemporary fashion
- Analysis of fashion trends and integrating them into the wardrobe, balancing timeless pieces with on-trend items

- Color theory, color analysis, choosing colors according to body shape and skin tone
- Textiles, types of fabrics and textures and how to choose them

- Business Fashion Styling, developing a styling portfolio, promoting yourself as a stylist, networking in the fashion industry — relationships with designers, brands, PR agencies, career tips, recommendations, and development directions.
At the end of the course, you will create original outfits, experimenting with garments, colors, and accessories. Through these practical styling exercises you will create and build coherent looks that integrate current trends and reflect certain styles, concepts, or your personality.
